The Latest From the MO Senate
Sunday March 6th — Senator Mike Moon
Not much else took place this week. Here’s a bit of “inside baseball:”
On Tuesday, at the end of session, it was announced that the Senate would adjourn until Wednesday at 2:00 pm. I was curious to learn why no business would be conducted at the usual starting time of 10:00 am.
On Wednesday, following an early meeting, I learned (from a lobbyist) that some Senators were golfing! As you can imagine, my mind went to the many comments from some Senators that some other Senators were wasting time (during a filibuster – which was conducted in order to give others sufficient time to negotiate congressional district maps). I don’t buy the argument.
(The week before, session was ended early for a bowling tournament.)
What made it worse is the fact that the Senate finally convened (at 2:30 pm) and worked for about 4 hours. So, in retrospect, the Senate could have started session at 10:00 am (the usual time) and worked until 2:00 pm. Afterward, the entire Senate could have enjoyed a beautiful afternoon.
These little frustrations (caused by lack of communication by the leaders) further alienate members. Requests have been made for better communication. We wait with bated breath….
A Couple of Important Bills
The hearing for SB (Senate Bill) 781, the “Save Women’s Sports” bill went well. The bill aims to protect girls/women from head-to-head competition against biological males. An executive session (committee vote) is expected on Tuesday.
House Bill (HB) 1616 was voted out of committee and is expected to be debated this week. The bill addresses the “certificate of need” (C.O.N.) process. The C.O.N. program is state regulatory “tool” that controls the number of health care resources in an area. It is my opinion that the process is anti-free market. I may explain further in a future report. You can track the bill here.
FOLLOW THE MONEY! A Look at Who Is Behind the Push for Ranked Choice Voting in the State of Missouri to Swing Elections to Democrats
Ranked choice is a scheme being pushed by radical leftists like AOC in red states across the nation & is a threat to our free and fair elections. It will eliminate the ability of Republican voters to primary unpopular candidates who do not follow our platform. It will usher in corrupt elections wherein multiple rounds of vote juggling sometimes results in the person with fewer votes actually being declared the winner. It will throw state elections to Democrats. And it will ensure anti-establishment, pro-citizen candidates never get elected to state office in Missouri again at all costs.

Will History Repeat Itself?
Senator Mike Moon
A week ago, I listened to a radio broadcast, Understanding the Times, hosted by Jan Markel. During the broadcast, an audio clip of a lady named Vera Sharaf was played. I was so impressed by the clip, I transcribed it and read it during session this week. Here’s the clip:
Vera Sharaf — I am Vera Sharaf, I’m a holocaust survivor, but also a human rights advocate for almost all my life. I would like to bring to the discussion the darkest of dark history and it’s relevance to today.
An important lesson of the holocaust is that genocide was facilitated by global silence, indifference, and a failure to intervene. The Holocaust was set in motion when personal freedom and legal rights and civil rights were swept aside. The author Primo (Lay-vee) Levi, a Jewish survivor of Auschwitz warned very early on it happened. Therefore, it can happen again. It can happen everywhere.
As a survivor, I am appalled by posers who control the holocaust narrative. They deny the relevance of the holocaust to curb discrimination and increasingly agressive repressive edicts. These vigilantes sensor and silence those who speak out. By denying the relevance of the holocaust and the current repression, these vigilantes are holocaust deniers.

Which Greedy Execs Make All That Money From $7 Gas?
As night follows day, Democrats eventually will pivot to meaningless hearings and investigations into those darned greedy executives who make too much money on high gas prices! California congressional backbencher John Garamendi has already demanded an investigation. The hue and cry will grow louder at some point. But before you linger your gaze too long on their gaslight, you need to know who’s really making bank on gas.
Sure, oil companies make plenty of money off American gas buyers, but they’re not the greediest bunch out there. It turns out that the greedy executives hoovering up most of the money you spend for a gallon of gas aren’t Stetson-wearing Bubbas in Houston. No, the greediest ones are sitting in statehouses and governors’ mansions all over the country.
Every year the National Tax Foundation updates its list of greedy state governments that skim more money from every gallon of gas than Bubba.
The federal government takes 18.4 cents on every gallon of gas sold. Then comes the house of mirrors at the state and local level. The Tax Foundation says Alaska has the cheapest taxes at 14.98 cents per gallon. But California skims 66.98 cents per gallon, the highest in the nation. This differs substantially from Stillwater Associates Researchers, who put the figure at a much higher $1.15/gallon taken off the top by the state.
