[Opinion] Now Is The Tim To Change The Current State Of Our State
Have you ever noticed when you vote for a Democrat, you get what you voted for 100% of the time? Not so much with a Republican. With a Democrat you know you’re voting for a culture of death, government tyranny, higher taxes, and social engineering. But with many Republicans it seems you get one thing during campaign season and something completely different when they are empowered to govern. When was the last time a Missouri Republican candidate knocked on your door or sent you a piece of mail that told you they would go to Jeff City and vote to raise your gas tax? How about voting against cutting your income tax or phasing out the personal property tax? Have you ever had a Republican candidate tell you they would vote against defunding Planned Parenthood? There are “Republicans” in the Missouri Senate that in the last session voted to expand Medicaid, give away free college, allow food stamps to be used in fast food restaurants and have government give free needles to heroin addicts. Who needs Democrats in control when Republicans are voting for this agenda?
This is why we started The 100 PAC. Our problem is not that we don’t have enough Republicans. Our problem is that we have not elected the right Republicans. We need to put an end to this by educating Republican primary voters and exposing the voting records of each of our 24 Republican State Senators. Educating primary voters is the reason The 100 PAC created our Legislative Scorecard and have been sharing it all over the state.
Recently I shared the scorecard on my Facebook page. As usual the information was well received. Well, not by everyone…(R) Senator Mike Cierpiot was not at all happy with me sharing his voting record. Who could blame him? The 100 PAC Scorecard showed that Sen. Cierpiot voted with the MO GOP platform, on major party issues, platform only 27% of the time. But more disappointing than his objection to publicizing his record was his willingness to lie about it. One of the votes The 100 PAC graded was a vote on an amendment to House Bill 661. Specifically, on May 11th, 2021, this amendment would have created special protections for LGBTQ+ individuals in state code. This is the spirit and intent of legislation known as “MONA”, which is shorthand for the Missouri Nondiscrimination Act…it divides the citizenry by making more folks equal than others by granting special protections to some people but not everyone—in this, the lucky “some” are LGBTQ folks. The Republican Party has always opposed these types of laws—that’s why The 100 PAC graded the vote. “I have never supported MONA”, said Senator Cierpiot in response to my Facebook post. Well, according to Page 1700 of the Missouri Senate Journal of May 11th, 2021; he did when given the chance to vote on precisely this type of legislation. Sen. Cierpiot voted YEA to give special rights to gays and lesbians, and then used social media to lie about it. The lying is a disappointment, but the vote itself is not a surprise.
The American Conservative Union—those are our friends over at CPAC—also publish a conservative scorecard and have found, year after year, that Mike Cierpiot ranks in the bottom third of Missouri Senate Republicans for conservative voting record. Keep that in mind if you live in western Jackson County and Mike is asking for your vote for re-election while claiming to be a conservative. Don’t take my word for it—just search for “ACU state rankings” in any web browser and see for yourself.
We need to stop lying to our supporters about what we are doing with the People’s Power when campaign season stops and governing begins. We won’t get there with more Mike Cierpiots in elected office. But here’s the bottom line: Senator Cierpiot is not our only problem in the Missouri Senate. Because of the terrible leadership of Pro-Tem, Dave Schatz, and Majority Leader Caleb Rowden, over a dozen Republican Senators scored under 50% on The 100 scorecard. It is time We The People hold accountable our Senators with an “R” next to their name. Start governing the same way you campaign.
Randy Pietzman Drops Out Of State Senate Race For District 10
Former Rep. Randy Pietzman has dropped out of the state Senate race for Senate District 10. There has been no comment made from him or his team so far as to why Pietzman has decided to drop out. The race for District 10 still has four remaining candidates, Wentzville Judge Mike Carter, Reps. Ryan Fitzwater and Jeff Porter, along with former Rep. Bryan Spencer. Spencer has reported the most cash on hand from the quarterly report back in April with $148,772.00, while Fitzwater reported $103,595.00, and Porter reported $24,289.00. However, Carter made a $500,000 contribution to his campaign April 13th giving him the fundraising lead, and is already airing radio ads throughout the east-central Missouri district.

Changes to Missouri Voting Await Parson’s Signature
Missourians may need a photo ID this year to vote in the November election if Governor Mike Parson approves legislation sitting on his desk.
At present, all Missouri voters need to cast a ballot is either a voter ID card, a current utility bill, paycheck or bank statement with your name and current address, a student ID, driver’s license, or an ID issued by the U.S. or state. Under House Bill 1878 approved by the General Assembly in May, some of those forms of ID won’t work at a polling place. It’s a goal Republicans have been trying to accomplish for years.

The Parental School-Board Revolt Continues
The political fallout from school closings and curriculum battles continues, as school board incumbents are losing at an unusual rate. That’s the news from Ballotpedia, which analyzed recent school board elections in three states. “Incumbents lost at nearly twice the historical average,” the website that tracks election results reported last week. Parents are revolting over how districts handled Covid and how schools teach race and gender. School board candidates campaigned on at least one of these issues in 141 school district elections in Missouri, Oklahoma and Wisconsin. A third of incumbents lost re-election, compared to an average of 18% in the races Ballotpedia tracked from 2018 to 2021. Candidates who opposed woke instruction or Covid policies such as the shutdowns or mask mandates won 36% of the 334 seats in these districts. Those with unclear positions won 19%, Ballotpedia says. Candidates taking a more progressive stance won 45%. Voter recall efforts have also soared. Not all are successful, but Ballotpedia tracked attempts to boot 126 board members in 2021, up from 28 in 2019. Recalls have already been mounted against 77 current board members. This surge in successful challenges is welcome because the root problem with public schools has long been traceable to failed monopoly governance.
