Redistricting Floor Debate Tabled as Senate Leadership Harshly Rebukes Conservative Caucus
After a week of marathon filibusters and rare weekend session time, Senate leadership hit pause on floor debate on congressional redistricting.
In a harsh rebuke Saturday evening, Senate leadership castigated Conservative Caucus members who have held the floor in a marathon debate this week.
“Over the last several weeks, we have watched as business critical to Missouri citizens has been delayed by a small group of senators willing to send our congressional map to federal courts if they do not get districts that suit their ambition,” a statement put out by Majority Floor Leader Caleb Rowden said. “These senators are also standing in the way of critical policies Missourians are asking for — election reform, banning critical race theory, providing more choice for Missouri parents, and the list goes on.”

[Opinion] The City Votes & The Country Votes
By Jodi Grace
The Missouri filibuster continues over the US congressional redistricting process.
I think I'll start calling it The Freedom Filibuster! It's been going on nearly a week now and our conservative senators have done an incredible job standing up for Missourians ability to be represented well in D.C. and, therefore, protect the Republic from Pelosi and her swamp.
Some are wondering why in the world this is such a big deal. It's just a map, right? Wrong!
Given the state of our nation and the incredibly egregious and sweeping acts being taken by the liberal democrats in power, it is PRIORITY to protect our Republican seats and hold as many as is absolutely possible to keep Pelosi from ruling that roost any longer than absolutely necessary!
Can you imagine another 10 years with that lady and her crazy cohorts in charge!?
That means the map is of the utmost importance to the future of our nation. The seats we hold are critical. They ARE worth fighting for!
THE ARGUMENT: COUNTRY VOTES VS CITY VOTES
One particular senator has actually responded to many e-mails making the argument that dividing up a solid red district and pulling in blue territory would "dilute" the country folks' votes, because surely the city would overtake the country and turn it blue. Her question was, "How long before urban areas overwhelm the rural areas?"
Ok. Now I get it that when you first read that, you think "Yeah! I don't want a city (or a country) person representing me. We are very different and I need a country person like me in DC - not a democrat from over there in the city"
That's a very narrow way to look at it, in my personal opinion. Think a little bit deeper and a spend some time considering what she's actually saying here. Let's take a closer look.

Possible Common Ground Found between Rep. Coleman & the Progressive Empower Missouri
“Taxes on groceries is emerging as an issue with a left-right coalition making a possible bipartisan move this session. Republican Rep. Mary Elizabeth Coleman has filed HB 1992 which simply says, “There shall be no tax levied and imposed under this chapter any retail sales of food.”
It’s touted by the progressive Empower Missouri as a tax cut which helps folks at the bottom
of the economic ladder. See their write-up here. With the increase in food prices, so has the amount of taxes collected on the sale of food.
Sales taxes increase income inequality because low-income individuals end up paying a higher share of their income on basic needs like food. According to the Consumer Expenditure Survey conducted by theBureau of Labor Statistics, the lowest income quintile spends over 25% of their income on food, while the highest income spends only 5%.”

Biden Admin Didn’t Anticipate The Great Awakening
INDEPENDENCE, Missouri “The more Joe Biden's White House stubbornly and willfully refused to answer questions and insisted it had acted rightly, the more distrust in government grew.
The images of Biden walking away, his back to the press and metaphorically to the people, in the days and weeks after the pullout projected arrogance and negligence. When he repeated that exit, it only served to hasten the awakening.
Soon, the questions about Afghanistan became questions about how the government was handling the pandemic — in particular the mandates, masking, and the treatment of our children. Many people had been afraid to make their complaints public — they saw how lives and livelihoods could be destroyed if you questioned the motives of the government or teachers unions.
Across the political spectrum, people who had been struggling so hard to keep their businesses open and their children in school or who dared to question the usage of masks or the authority of the government were called racists, fascists, grandma-killers, insurrectionists, and white supremacists.
Never mind that most of them had done all of the right things. They stayed home at the beginning, washed their cardboard Amazon boxes before they opened them, refrained from hugging their parents and children and grandchildren, lost jobs, lost friends, lost family members, got boosted, saw their children flail emotionally and academically. They watched crime escalate in their cities and suburbs. They watched depression and suicide affect their loved ones and fentanyl flood their nice neighborhoods and communities. They watched their cities turn into ghost towns and their grocery and energy bills diminish their wealth.
No one in the press really picked up on this movement. They see everything as either Republican or Democratic. This awakening is not so easily characterized. It is an inside-outside movement reacting to a government that chose to play politics with the virus and continue a long-standing partisan battle.”
