WHEN IT COMES TO ABORTION IN MISSOURI, REP. MARY ELIZABETH COLEMAN AIMS TO MAKE IT “UNTHINKABLE”
One of Missouri’s leading anti-abortion legislators plans to offer a bill similar to the Texas law the U.S. Supreme Court allowed to go into effect last week, which empowers citizens to enforce the state’s near-total abortion ban by suing providers and others who assist women in getting the procedure.
Republican state Rep. Mary Elizabeth Coleman, who chairs the House Children and Families Committee, has promised to introduce a version of the legislation. The commitment, coming from an influential lawmaker, signals that Republicans see a possible new route to effectively ending legal abortion in Missouri.
“We are absolutely going to do everything we have in power to try to eliminate abortion in Missouri,” Coleman said. “And not just eliminate it, but make it unthinkable.”

IS MISSOURI HOOKED ON FEDERAL HEROIN?
By Former Senator Jim Lembke
For decades, the states have become more and more dependent on federal money. Money that has been printed out of thin air and has been piled in the form of debt on our children and grandchildren.
Missouri is addicted to this federal heroin. Our state budget is said to be “balanced”, but can we truly make that claim when we rely on the feds for 40% of the dollars we spend? Missouri is one of the worst offenders. The federal tentacles have a firm grasp across departments and services provided by the State. The cost of this dependency is both dangerous and stifles needed reforms.
The strings attached prohibit reforms in Medicaid, K-12 education, social services, mental health, MO-DOT, natural resources and many other departments.
This is the bottom line. It is not a matter of “if”, but “when” the federal government implodes, and the “free” money dries up. When this happens, it will be catastrophic not only to our state’s budget, but to the people receiving services.
The states that have a plan in place to work towards independence from a federal government and their ill-gotten gain will weather the storm. We must elect reformers at ALL levels. Our federal delegation needs to be working with our Governor and legislature to remove the strings that hamper reform. Also, our elected public servants must be ready to role up their sleeves and do the heavy lifting of reforming broken programs. In just our Medicaid program alone, a recent third-party audit found over a billion dollars of waste and mismanagement. Not one reform has been done to make this program more accountable.
There are billions of dollars in savings to be found in our states $35 billion budget. It is hard work. It will not be done by the insiders that benefit by the expansion of government.
Finally, we need a visionary in the governor’s office. We need a Ron DeSantis. We need to elect senate and house leadership that will have the same vision. We need appropriation chairs that will do the heavy lift. We need to fix broken government and wean our state of the federal heroin.

FLORIDA GOV. RON DESANTIS DISMISSES 2024 SPECULATION
Despite all the widespread speculation and reporting claiming the opposite, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) on Tuesday dismissed any talk of him running for president in 2024 as just "nonsense," writes Bloomberg. "All this speculation about me is purely manufactured," said DeSantis during a press conference in St. Cloud, Florida. "I just do my job. We work hard." "I hear all this stuff," he added, referring to those White House rumors, "and honestly, it's nonsense."DeSantis has, as of late, become quite the rising GOP star (a status former President Donald Trump reportedly resents). In fact, in an early straw poll measuring favored GOP candidates for 2024, DeSantis came in second only to Trump himself and was the "only other possible candidate to break single digits," writes Bloomberg. But a Trump candidacy — which one former adviser put the odds of "between 99 and 100 percent" — would "derail any talk of a DeSantis bid," Politico notes. Still, even with his insistence otherwise, DeSantis "hasn't convinced his critics who see [his] ongoing national fundraising effort as evidence of his growing ambitions," writes Politico. Not to mention he's also reportedly just "days away from joining several potential contenders at a Nebraska Republican event."

BEN BROWN TO HOST “THE WEEKEND ROUND UP” EVERY SUNDAY AT 5PM
Benjamin Brown is a former professional mixed martial artist, restaurateur, political activist and candidate running for the Missouri State Senate. He is the owner of Satchmo's Bar & Grill and rose to local prominence by actively opposing restrictions targeting small businesses, schools and houses of worship during the pandemic.
As a small business owner, he saw first-hand how out-of-control government regulations can kill businesses and destroy our local economy, as well as the impact they have on our families and communities. As a result, he has become a leader in the fight against government overreach at various levels of government.
Ben believes that the primary role of government is to secure the rights of its people. He made the decision to run for office with an agenda that would center upon restoring government to its intended role, as well advancing the principles of individual rights, limited government and free markets.
Prior to the pandemic, Ben actively promoted conservative values in our state while serving as Missouri's National Committeeman for the Young Republican National Federation and as Chairman of the Franklin County Republican Central Committee. He currently resides in Washington, Missouri with his wife and three children.

REPUBLICAN STATE REPRESENTATIVE SHAMED DOGAN ANNOUNCES COUNTY EXECUTIVE CHALLENGE FOR SAM PAGE
State Representative Shamed Dogan of Ballwin announced he would be running for the republican nomination for St. Louis County Executive with hopes of challenging Sam Page in November 2022.
From his announcement:
I’ve had the honor of serving Missourians at the local, state, and federal levels. I’ve seen firsthand that quality leadership in government can make people’s lives a little bit better. That’s why I’m so disturbed by what’s been going on in St. Louis County government. For nearly 8 years, Steve Stenger and Sam Page have let us down. Corruption. Population decline. Rising crime. Kids falling behind.
If the last year has made anything clear, it's that we have a County Executive who’s more concerned with his own power and self-interest than with helping regular folks.
We deserve better.
That's why I am excited to announce I am running for County Executive. You deserve a leader who will not just work for you, but will work with you.
As State Representative, I helped clean up state government by reducing the power and influence of big-money lobbyists.
I helped reduce the tax burden on working families and cut needless red tape that made it harder for people to start a small business.
I led the fight for criminal justice reforms that stopped locking people up for smoking marijuana and other nonviolent offenses, because prison cells should be reserved for the worst of the worst.
I worked with Democrats, Republicans, law enforcement, and activists to pass the most significant police reform bill since Ferguson, which will hold bad police officers accountable while helping good police officers fight violent criminals who threaten our communities.
I’m running for County Executive to bring people together again so that we can get St. Louis County growing again. But I can't do it alone. Together, we can create the county we deserve. Join me in the fight at ShamedDogan.com
