Rep. Mike Haffner Will Run for Re-election to the Missouri House in 2022

Rep. Haffner was rumored to be considering vacating his re-election run and leadership race for Majority floor leader, to instead mount a congressional bid for the open 4th Congressional District.  He announced last week he will not be running for congress and instead will continue campaigning to be the GOP floor leader.

“Each one of us knows Washington is broken and in need of principled conservatives with integrity, strength, and wisdom to lead in these challenging times. I am humbled by the encouragement from current and former colleagues, numerous combat veterans, as well as countless supporters to consider entering the race for Missouri’s 4th congressional district. I will never retreat from this battle to save our country, but my mission has remained the same: to provide combat-tested and proven leadership where it will have the greatest impact and that is working with our House Republicans in 2022 and beyond.”

Senator Rick Brattin Endorsed by FreedomWorks for America

A political action committee supporting candidates focused on lower taxes and small government endorsed Sen. Rick Brattin in his bid to represent Missouri’s 4th congressional district Thursday.

FreedomWorks for America Executive Director Noah Wall touted the Republican lawmaker’s support of parents’ involvement in education, autonomy for small business owners, and policies banning critical race theory (CRT) in Missouri schools in his endorsement. Wall — whose PAC supported former President Donald Trump in his bid for the Oval Office — also pointed to Brattin’s opposition to President Joe Biden and his policies.

“From his years in the Missouri House to his current position in the state Senate, Rick Brattin has cultivated a reputation as a principled, no-nonsense conservative with a special talent for delivering for his constituents,” Wall said in a statement. “To counteract Biden and Democrats’ tremendous failures of leadership and get our country back on track to freedom, we need to elect a legion of tried and true conservatives who will work to pass legislation that enhances Americans’ freedoms. Sen. Brattin has proven his willingness to fight for conservative values in his home state; we have every reason to believe that he will continue to do that if elected to serve in the U.S. House.”

GOP Optimism Grows Over Possible Red Wave in 2022

With less than a year to go until the 2022 midterms, Republicans are increasingly bullish on the prospect of a red wave that could flip both chambers of Congress and end Democrats’ unified control in Washington. Heading into 2022, Democrats find themselves on their back foot, defending their narrow House and Senate majorities – and President Biden – against a fusillade of attacks over stubbornly high coronavirus cases, inflation, the bloody Afghanistan withdrawal and more. Biden’s approval ratings have nosedived to the low 40s, portending a possible drumming at the ballot box next year – and they haven’t stopped falling. The House is viewed by many on both sides of the aisle as likely to fall into Republican hands, given Democrats’ razor-thin five-seat majority there. However, despite a favorable map for Democrats, the party’s 50-50 majority in that chamber could be toppled too. “I've been telling Democrats, especially Democrats in targeted seats, enjoy the holidays, and you got a decision to make: retire or lose next fall,” Rep. Tom Emmer (R-Minn.), the chair of the National Republican Congressional Committee, told The Hill. Emmer cautioned that a GOP House majority is not guaranteed, though he asserted that as many as 70 Democrats could lose their seats in a possible wave, warning “in this environment, no Democrat is safe.”

Opinion: Are We Doomed to Bidenflation?

By Kalena Bruce on December 22, 2021

Today, as we watch President Joe Biden and Speaker Nancy Pelosi destroy our economy, bankrupt our nation, and send inflation skyrocketing, President Trump’s groundbreaking Tax Cuts And Jobs Act turns 4 years old.

I was proud to represent Missouri’s working families, through the American Farm Bureau Federation, as an advisor to the president’s team on this massive accomplishment. Together, we were able to provide real relief to our farming families and small businesses by addressing the unnecessary and, for many, insurmountable “death tax” that has hindered multi-generational farming operations for decades. The last thing we should be worried about after the death of a loved one is the government showing up to the funeral with a tax bill.
