St. Louis County Residents Weigh in on New Mask Mandate After 1st Week
Ben Brown, the owner and a patron of Satchmo's Bar and Grill believes the decision to wear a mask should be left up to the individual, not politicians.
"We are going to remain mask optional," Satchmo's owner and District 26 State Senate Candidate Ben Brown said. Brown said the mandate is unlawful for two reasons.
"You can only enact one similar mandate within a 180-day period. Second, the other argument is that since our state is no longer under a state of emergency, it would actually take a 2/3 majority vote to pass this order instead of a simple majority," Brown said. Brown and Joe S. believe masking choices should be left up to individuals and not politicians.
"I don't oppose masks whatsoever. If somebody believes that that's the best personal health decision for themselves and their family, they should be permitted to wear a mask anywhere they'd like," Brown said.

Trump Helps Thrust Once-Ignored Secretary of State Campaigns into Big Donor Spotlight
As Republicans talk about election integrity and Democrats talk voting rights, down-ballot races that used to be almost an afterthought are on track to rack up significantly more attention from big political donors and media in 2022. Throw former President Donald Trump into the mix, and rhetoric around elections for secretaries of state further escalates. This year, voters in 27 states will decide on their secretaries of state, who in most states are the chief state election administration officials. The contests are happening in what are often major battlegrounds, such as for Democrat-held seats in Arizona, Colorado, Michigan and Minnesota, and Republican-held seats in Georgia, Iowa, Nevada and Ohio. Trump endorsed Republican primary candidates for the job in Arizona and Michigan and is backing Rep. Jody Hice’s primary challenge to incumbent GOP Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, who certified the narrow Joe Biden victory in the Peach State in 2020.
